Rural Coordination Centre of British Columbia

Rural Coordination Centre of BC (RCCbc) is a physician-led network that connects people, partners, and institutions working to improve the health of rural, remote, and Indigenous communities across British Columbia. Rooted in relationships and guided by our commitment to rural health equity and reconciliation, we bring people together to co-create solutions that enhance care close to home.
RCCbc recognises the collective effort across Canada to advance the principles embedded in the former Bill C-72, the Connected Care for Canadians Act. Secure, person-centred portability of health information is vital to achieving equitable healthcare. Rural, remote, and Indigenous communities are disproportionately affected when health data are lost or cannot move between systems, leading to delayed care, repeated tests, and added travel and stress for patients and providers.
While RCCbc does not advocate for specific legislation, we support national cooperation to strengthen interoperability and trusted data flow across jurisdictions. Connected, patient-centred systems improve continuity, safety, and wellbeing for people and providers in rural communities.
